Intra-sport
For the past five years, as our provision has developed and been enhanced, year on year, pupils at River school have been involved in the planning and delivery of our whole school intra-sport programme of events. The outcomes identified and planned for are as follows:
• Opportunities for and exposure to competitive sport at level 1 for all pupils from Foundation stage to Year Six, linking to our school aim for pupils to apply themselves and make the most of every opportunity offered to them.
• Through sporting opportunities, to encourage the development of good citizenship by active involvement in the life of the school, neighbourhood and wider community
• To develop pupils self-esteem, leadership and teamwork skills, and their ability to earn and show respect in different situations. This supports our school aim and ethos of developing an intrinsic motivation for learning, a high level of self-esteem and confidence in each child’s own worth.
