Thursday 4th April Boys league match
This was the boys last match of the season. The A team didn't get off to a very good start with Green Park scoring first. But after a half time talk they went back out and showed just what determination and resilience they have! The whole team supported and encouraged each other and finally they were rewarded with an equaliser. River finished the game the stronger of the two teams but were just unfortunate not to secure the win. The final score was 1-1. The B team also put in a shift! Playing fluent passing football throughout the whole game. They were unlucky not to find the back of the net, the final score was 0-0.
Well played all of the squad throughout the whole season!
2nd April Girls league match
This was the last game of the season for the girls team. Once again they never gave up, with Clara going on some great runs from defence! They were unlucky with the final score 3-0 to White Cliffs. The whole team should proud of the progress and team spirit that they have made throughout their first season together. Well done to all of you!
Monday 25th April Boys league match
This was always going to be a close game with both A teams fielding strong sides. River battled hard and were very unlucky to have a chance judged not to have crossed the goal line. Capel came on strong and were fortunate to score. The game ended 1-0 to Capel. Great play by all involved. The B team also enjoyed a very competitive match. Both teams tried their best and River went on to win the game 1-0.
Thursday 21st March Girls league match
Wingham were the girls next opponents and in this game we scored our 1st goal within the league! The girls all continued to play the best football that they could, but were unlucky to once again loose the game. They all left very happy, with smiles on their faces having scored a goal!
Monday 18th March Boys league match
Both teams played against White cliffs in cold and raining conditions! The A team soon took control of their match moving the ball around the pitch with quick accurate passing. The final score was 7-0 to River! The B team also controlled their match from start to finish scoring some spectacular goals! The final score was 4-0 to River. Well played to you all!
Monday 11th March Boys league match
Next up in the league local rivals, Whitfield! This match was an evenly fought game with both sides playing some excellent football. With the score still at 0-0 at half time River put all their effort into the 2nd half. Despite this the score remained 0-0 at the final whistle - a fair result for both sides.
Thursday 7th March Kevin Edward Trophy
The boys took part in this tournament and got of to a good start winning their 1st match. They continued to play good fluent football throughout the group stages which saw them through to the semi-finals. This is where their luck ran out and lost the game to Aylesham. Well done to all who took part!
Tuesday 5th March Girls League match
The girls football team played away at Kingsdown with determination! They battled hard to win the ball back and started to play well as a team. The score at half time was still 0-0, all to play for in the 2nd half! The girls never gave up and were very unfortunate to lose 1-0 through a penalty to Kingsdown. Well done!
Tuesday 12th February Boys Football League match
It was the turn of the boys squad to participate in their first league match today against Charlton. The A team played first and were always in control of the game. Their confidence grew which resulted in a goal in the first half. The whole team just carried on in the 2nd half with a great all round team performance, with the final score 3-1 to River.
The B team also played against Charlton. The whole team enjoyed the experience of playing in a league match, using the skills that they have been developing in training. However they were unfortunate to lose 4-0. Well played to all of the squad!
Monday 11th February Girls Football League match
Our girls team played in their 1st league match today. The girls were a little nervous and excited! The first half went well for them as their confidence grew so did their football! We were very unlucky to be 1 - 0 down at half time. The whole team tried their best, never giving up but Deal Parochial proved just to strong for them in the 2nd half. The final score was 5 -0 to Deal. The girls didn't let their heads go down and are very much looking forward to using the experience and confidence that they gained from this match as they complete their league games. Well done to you all!
Thursday 17th January 2019 Dover Athletic Community Trust Tournament
Our football team competed in this event for the first time this year. It was a freezing cold day but the team started well winning their first game 5-0! An unlucky result in the next game saw them lose 1-0. Next was the match of the tournament, which resulted in a draw, both teams River and Temple Ewell played some excellent football, passing the ball fluently. The boys battled hard in the final match however were unlucky to finish on the losing side. The team finished in 3rd position. Well done to all involved!
Tuesday 6th November Graham Stabbs Cup
Our football squad participated in the 1st round of this cup today. The A team played first and against the run of play The Downs scored first. The whole squad worked really hard to get back into the match levelling the score just after half time. Despite battling hard throughout the 2nd half River were never able to take control of the match and finished on the losing side 1-3 to The Downs.
Our B team then enjoyed their first experience of representing our school at football. Once again the whole team put in a fine performance, passing the ball fluently and gaining in confidence. The score changed hands a few time but once again River ended on the losing side 1-2 to The Downs. Well played to all involved!
Tuesday 16th October Northbourne Park Football Tournament
Our A team played in this tournament and having been to the final in 5 out of the 6 past, the boys were under some pressure to maintain our high standards. In the group stages the boys won 4 out of 5 games only conceding 1 goal. They progressed to the Semi-Final against Sandwich and produced a fluent display of football, winning 2-0. In the final they faced a very good Hornbeam team. They drew 0-0 and after extra time the deadlock was still not broken. The penalty shoot-out saw River victorious with the boys bringing home another trophy!
Wednesday 10th October McCarthy Cup 1st round
The A team took part in this knock-out cup competition at Green Park school. This was their first competitive tournament as a team. After only two training sessions the boys certainly tried their best.They played some good football at times, winning 2 matches, drawing 2 and loosing just 1. Unfortunately this was not enough to take them through to the next round, but definitely look a promising team! Well done boys!
Tuesday 25th October Dover and Deal Girls Football Tournament
Our girls football team kick-off another year of sport at River Primary! The team participated in their first competitive experience together in this local tournament. All the girls played really well and developed their football skills throughout the afternoon. The team spirit was amazing and although we didn't mange to win a game, the afternoon was a very enjoyable experience for all!
