Friday 15th June Year 5/6 Kwik Cricket Festival

Our two year 5/6 cricket teams participated in this festival.The B team played well and finished 4th in their group taking them through to the play off position for 8th and 9th position. The match was very exciting and finished a  draw! The A team came 3rd in their group so played for 5th and 6th position. Saving their best cricket til last ensured that they won the match and finished in 5th place. Both teams played exciting cricket throughout the day, well played to you all

 

  • Tuesday 5th June Year 2 Rapid Fire Cricket

    A team of very enthusiastic year 2 children attended the first Dover District Rapid Fire Cricket festival. The team enjoyed improving their cricket skills through playing this game. As the day progressed so did their skills! Our team finished in 6th position, well done

  • Tuesday 15th May Year 5/6 Netball Tournament

    Our netball squad competed in the Dover and Deal netball tournament recently. This was a new experience for our B team who played well and battled hard throughout the competition. Well done to all of you for your perseverance and determination! The A team played some fluent netball at times which secured them a place in the quarter-finals. They were very unlucky here to lose 1-0 to Cartwright and Kelsey - well done to you all!

  • Tuesday 8th May Year 5/6 Quicksticks Hockey

    It was the turn of our year 5/6 hockey teams to compete this week. The weather and the hockey was lovely! Both of our teams battled hard in the group stages, the A team finished in 3rd sport and the B team finished in 4th place. In their final game River A beat Whitfield 2-0 and River B were unlucky to lose 1-0 to St. Margarets.

  • Thursday 3rd May year 1/2 Football Festival

    Off we went to Sandwich Tec school with seven very excited children! This is a festival to encourage the fun and enjoyment of football which our children certainly embraced. All of the children played with big smiles on their faces, supporting and encouraging each other. As you can see from the photos below the children clearly enjoyed themselves! Well done to you all

  • Tuesday 1st May year 3/4 Quicksticks Hockey

    Our year 3/4 hockey teams participated in the local tournament at Goodwin Academy. Both teams developed their skills throughout the event and clearly enjoyed their experience. River A finished 3rd in their group and River B finished 4th in their group. After playing the final matches River A finished in 7th place and River B finished in 10th position overall.. Well played to everyone

  • Monday 23rd April Year 5/6 Handball Tournament

    In this competition we were fortunate to enter three teams. The game of Handball was a new experience for some of the children but throughout the competition their confidence and skills improved. The B team battled hard in the first round finishing 3rd in their group and going through to the play-off match. The C team also enjoyed their games in the first round finishing in 2nd place and going through to the semi-final. They played against a very strong team from Cartwright and Kelsey and were unfortunate to lose 7- 2! River A used all of the skills that we have been developing in training to secure a 2nd place finish in their group setting up a semi-final against Temple Ewell! This was a great match with Temple Ewell taking the lead, however River fought back and went on to win the match 6-2, on to the final they went. The final was against Cartwright and Kelsey- this proved to be a very exciting match with both teams playing fluent and exciting Handball! Unfortunately this was when River's hard work and determination ran out! River A finished in the runners-up spot.

    Well played to all who took part in a very enjoyable afternoon of Handball!

  • Wednesday 18th April Dover and Deal Mini-Tennis Festival

    A team of year 4 children participated in this event, in the 1st round they all developed their skills and began to relax and enjoy the experience producing some very entertaining tennis! Their perseverance ensured them a semi-final place. All four of them, Olivia, Willow, Blake and Dylan played with big smiles on their faces but were just unlucky to miss out on a place in the final! Well done to you all

  • Friday 16th March Year 3/4 Dover and Deal Sportshall Athletics Festival

    Our year 3/4 Sportshall Athletics team competed at this event demonstrating perseverance and resilience at all of the challenges they faced. The children competed in a number of different track and field events, using all of their athletic skills within jumping, throwing and running. The relay races are incredibly exciting: with all the teams cheering and encouraging their team to run as fast as possible! River did themselves proud and finished in 5th position. Well done everyone!

  • Friday 16th March Dover and Deal Infant Agility Festival

    On Friday morning ten very excited year 2 children travelled to Dover Leisure Centre to participate in this festival. The team competed in a rotation of events testing their jumping, throwing, aiming and running skills. The children really enjoyed this new experience, competing to the best of their ability as well as having some fun! Their final position of 7th was a credit to the commitment and effort that all of the team put in. Well done

  • Friday 9th March Dover and Deal Swimming Gala

    This years annual gala was a successful morning for the River swimming squad. All of the swimmers put their heart and soul into swimming as fast as they could, never giving up! Stand out performances were Henry Smith 2nd (25m backstroke) Alfie Wynne 2nd (25m breaststroke) and James McLouglin 2nd (backstroke). The whole squad finished in 5th place overall- great swimming by you all!

  • Wednesday 21st February Dover Squash Festival

    A team of year 3 and 4 children participated in in this squash festival for the first time. The team took part in a number of different games used to introduce children to the game of squash. Our whole team played really well, developing their squash skills throughout the tournament. The festival was played in a lovely, enjoyable and supportive atmosphere. When all the final scores had been added River finished in 2nd position! Well done to you!

  • Friday 8th December Sportshall Athletics

    A team of year 5/6 children took part in this loud and exciting event! The competition is divided into track and field events for both boys and girls, to give an overall points tally. The track events are incredibly tense and exciting! All of the children tried their best and enjoyed all the encouragement supplied by their teammates. At the end of the competition River finished in 3rd position, well done everyone

  • Tuesday 21st November Year 3/4 Football Tournament

    It was the turn of our year 3/4 football team to attend the Dover and Deal football tournament today. The children were very proud to be representing their school, showing great sportsmanship and teamwork. They battled hard during the group stages to finish in 3rd position. They then played a very friendly and enjoyable match against White Cliffs which finished 0-0  to end the tournament! Well done to all of you!

  • Monday 20th November Year 5/6 Football Tournament

    The football squad took part in our local football tournament today. In the group stages the B team battled hard, playing with determination and enjoyment. They were unlucky not to progress out of the group stage. Well done!

    The A team started slowly in the group stages qualifying in 2nd place for the quarter-finals. At this stage the whole team upped their game beating Deal Parochial 1-0 - into the semis against St. Margarets. Playing a more fluent game of football River secured the victory 3-0, on the finals. In the final we played Charlton, this was a close, competitive game, the score at the final whistle was 0-0 - penalties! River certainly held their nerve winning 2-0 on penalties thus retaining the title of tournament winners for the 2nd year in succession! Well done to all who played.
