Tuesday 22nd May Friendly Football match V Barton

Our team of 'friendly footballers' took to the field against Barton Primary school this week. The whole played with enjoyment and determination.  Jayden was showing off his 'silky football skills' back heeling the ball! The score did not reflect the performance of the team - 7-1 to Barton! Well done to you all for a great display of football!

Friday 23rd March League match v White Cliffs

In the final league match of the season River just had to play the composed and fluent football that they have  been producing over the last few weeks to secure the top spot in the league. First up the A team who clicked straight into gear, passing the ball accurately and soon took the lead. A fantastic final performance by the whole team produced some amazing goals, with the final score 4-0 to River!

The B team continued where the A team left off; with Harvey Millis on fire scoring a hat-trick! It  was an all around team effort to secure the second win of the day, 5-0. 

The performance by all of the squad ensured River Primary will be crowned League Champions 2017/18!

Thursday 15th March League match V St. Margarets

St. Margarets were our next opponents in the league and the A team continued to play the fluent and attacking football they have been producing over the last few games. They soon took the lead passing the ball with accuracy and control. The all round team performance was rewarded with and 4-1 win taking them just one win away from the squad being crowned as league champions!

The B team also put in yet another fine performance, playing together as a team, supporting each other and passing the ball effectively and fluently. St. Margarets scored first but River dug deep and the equaliser soon came! Final score 1-1. Well done!

Monday 12th March Primary League All Stars tournament

Our A team took part in this tournament for the first time. We arrived at Kent University, Canterbury in the pouring rain but with very high spirits! In the group stages we started slowly loosing are first game 1-0 but from then on the boys stepped up a gear, playing controlled and accurate football to ensure a top of the group finish! The semi-final was a dominate performance by River but one counter attack from St. Mary's Deal resulted in a goal! The whole team never gave up until the final whistle, coming very close to levelling the score in the dying seconds of the game. Final score 1-0 to St.Mary's deal. What a performance by the whole team-well done to you all!

As you can see from the photos below the boys also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Premier League Trophy as will as ask questions about the trophy and the league. 

Friday 9th March Hammond Cup semi-final

On a damp and gloomy Friday evening we faced Deal Parochial in the semi-final of this cup. Both teams played fluent and exciting football. River, at times were in control of the match, hitting the bar, shooting wide but the ball would just not go in the goal! As the whistle was blown for full time the score was still 0-0.The game went into extra time, both teams continued to try the hardest to break the deadlock but neither could. Score still 0-0 at the end of extra time, penalties! River were extremely unlucky to loose the shoot out 4-3. The whole team should feel proud of their performance - well done!

Wednesday 7th March league match V Green Park

The second league match of the week saw our A team facing Green Park. This was a fairly even contest with both sides playing attacking football. Trying out a new formation meant the boys took a little time to adjust! However it soon payed off with River going on to score twice. The whole team listened and put in a fine performance. The final score 2-0 to River well done!

Monday 5th March League match V Whitfield

We played our first league match of the season against local rivals Whitfield. The A team played first and although seemed in control of the match it was Whitfield who scored first. The boys battled hard, started stringing their passes together and equalised 1-1. River then moved up a gear and scored twice making the final score 3-1.

The B team played some great football, moving the ball around and soon took the lead. Whitfield kept going and levelled the score. River never gave up and went on to score again. Final score 2-1 to River!

Monday 29th January Hammond Cup Quarter Finals

In damp and gloomy weather condition we faced Whitfield in the quarter-finals of this cup. First up was the A team. Both sides played fluent and exciting football with River just having the upper hand, passing the ball more accurately and winning their tackles, although the score remained 0-0 at half time. Whitfield came on stronger in the second half, but River hung on, the score at full time 0-0! Extra time; this is where River really took control of the match scoring 2 goals in the first period of extra time and then never looked like losing the game. What a game!

Our B team, who had waited forty minutes to play then took to the field. Once again River were in total control, passing the ball around with control and fluent footwork. The light  began to fade as River took the lead. The boys played on and with the last kick of the game Whitfield scored an equaliser! Final score 1 all. Well done to all of the players! 

Through we go to the semi-finals.

Monday 6th November Hammond Cup 1st round

What a great start to our cup competitions for this season! Both our teams played against Eastry Primary school, turning on the style with exciting, fluent football. The A team took their opportunity to score in the second minute of the match. This settled them down and allowed them to control the match from start to finish. Final score River 9 Eastry 0.

The B team then also followed suit enjoying their football, taking control and scoring with ease. The whole team worked together, supporting each other to secure the win 5-0 to River!

On we go to the quarter-finals!

Thursday 2nd November 2017 Friendly Football match

We played a friendly football match against Capel today. All of the children from both schools enjoyed the experience to play in a non-competitive environment, promoting the skills of sportsmanship and teamwork. It was played in a lovely spirit with children encouraging and supporting their team mates.

One of our children was witnessed skipping down the corridor at lunch time singing 'I'm playing football for the first time for the school today, I'm so happy...' Well done to you all!

Thursday 19th October McCarthy Cup Finals

Our A team participated in the final round of the McCarthy cup today. In the group stages they remained unbeaten and went through to the semi-finals without conceding a goal! The team are starting to bond as a team, their support and encouragement for each other is having a positive affect on their fluent passing football. In the semi-final the team were unlucky to lose 2-1 to Sibertswold. Well done to all involved in this cup competition!

Tuesday 17th October Northbourne Park Football Tournament

The boys football squad took part in this annual competition today. The B team, playing together for the first time, demonstrated amazing support and teamwork towards each other and all of the teams that they played against. They were extremely unlucky not to progress from the group stages. The whole team should feel proud of their performance!

The A team played with fluent attacking football throughout the group stages which secured them a semi-final match against the hosts Northbourne Park! Stepping up a gear the whole team put in a great performance to secure the win 3-1, into the final they went! The boys showed just how proud they were to represent River by playing some of their best football, however they were unlucky to lose the match 2-1. Well done to the whole squad for showing enjoyment and excellent sportsmanship throughout the whole tournament.

Thursday 12th October McCarthy Cup for Girls

Off we went to St. Faith's school at Ash with our other girls football team! Once again all the girls were looking forward to participating in this tournament. The whole team enjoyed this experience, listened to the advice given which helped them to develop their football skills. The girls played with a smile on their faces and a spring in their step! Well done!

Tuesday 10th October Dover and Deal Girls Football Tournament

We arrived at Goodwin Academy with eight very excited girls ready to play football! The whole team improved on their football skills when playing in the group stages. We were unlucky not to go through to the next group stages, however the girls certainly enjoyed their football and used all of our school values to support them. Well done!

Monday 9th October 2017 - 1st Round of the McCarthy Cup

River got off to a great start when they competed in the first event of the year. The boys demonstrated how they were coming together as a team, supporting each other and applying many of their training skills they have been working on.  The team won 2 matches, drew 1 and lost 1, overall securing their place in the Final next Thursday.  Well done to all those who took part!
